Les Jay-jays sont une formation de La Hague (tout comme les Q65 et Golden Earrings). Entre 1966 et 1968 ils enregistrent un LP et plusieurs singles, dans un style allant du british beat féroce dans la lignée des premiers Kinks ou Who, à la chanson folk ou la blue eyed soul. Ils manquent à mon avis d'une vrai identité sonore comme peuvent l'avoir les grands groupes néerlandais tels que Q65 ou encore les géniaux Outsiders, de plus leur chanteur est franchement très moyen, mais à coté de ça ils ont un son brutal qui ne fait pas dans le détail. Got love if you want it une reprise des Kinks (en fait l'original de Slim Harpo - merci à Tacitus pour l'info) en est une belle illustration, ça carbure tout le long avec des guitares tranchantes et incisives, bref les amateurs de freakbeat apprécieront.écouter got love if you want it
The Jay-Jays are a dutch band from The Hague (as Q65 or Golden Earrings). Between 1966 and 1968 they recorded several singles and one LP, they sounded most of time like early british invasion bands like the Who or the Kinks, and they also did some blue eyed soul and folky stuffs. If they are not good as the Outsiders or Q65, they did rather convicting tunes, with a ferocious british rnb sound as shows this cover of a Kinks tune (well I suppose) got love if you want it.
