Altered Images est une de ses nombreuses formations écossaises du début des années 80s (Orange Juice, Josef K, Aztec Camera...), au départ dans un délire très post-punk sombre, le groupe évolue rapidement vers la pop, avec plus ou moins de bonheur. Happy Birthday, c'est pour le meilleur: un beat insistant qui tape comme un marteau-piqueur, des guitares et une basse fières, des notes de synthé tartes et la voix sous helium de Clare Grogan font de ce morceau une tuerie qui mériterait d'être bien plus (re)connue.Altered Images was one of the several cools band around Scotland during the early days of the 80s among Orange Juice, Josef K or Aztec Camera. They started as a dark post-punk outfit but evolved into a pop group. Happy Birthday is a kind of cross-over between the two, it's a catchy song with a sweety vocal and a cheesy synth but the beat is huge, and the guitar so fierce, the whole thing sounds awesome.

Moi je suis plus choqué par le "happy" avec deux "p"... c'est de l'anglais, mais quand même!
