Rotary Connection est un groupe créé par le fils du fondateur du label Chess Records, une sorte de croisement entre la production classieuse estampillée Norman Whitfield (déjà évoqué ici pour Rare Earth, David Ruffin ou les Undisputed Truth) et les harmonies vocales héritée de la pop 60's notamment du coté des 5th Dimension (déjà évoqué ici même également). Bref de la soul psychédélique voir hippie pure jus, absolument grandiose sur I am the black gold of the sun portée par la voix de Minnie Riperton, un morceau extrait de leur dernier album Hey Love sortie en 1971. A noter que malheureusement leur discographie ne me semble pas entièrement rééditée en cd, en revanche pas de doute ce titre figure sur des compilations ou le best of du groupe.écouter I am the black gold of the sun
Rotary Connection was created by the son of the Chess label boss. It's a mix between the production of Norman Whitfield (Rare Earth, Undisputed Truth, David Ruffin...) and the vocal harmonies of 5th dimension. I am the black gold of the sun is an amazing tune sung among other by Minnie Riperton, a pure slice of psychedelic soul, from their last album Hey Love in 1971.
