Groovin with Mr Bloe est un morceau instrumental dominé par un son d'harmonica, le titre fonctionne bien (numéro 2 aux charts anglais), dans la foulée sort un album basé sur la même recette dont est extrait un autre single avec les titres mighty mouse et curried soul.Il semblerait que derrière ce mystérieux Mr Bloe se cache un certain Zack Laurence (aka Harry Pitch? si il s'agit bien de la même personne?), ayant à son actif des génériques de séries télévisions, des disques pour enfants ou encore des musiques de film, bref un touche à tout de l'ombre. En face B on trouve une agréable surprise nommée Sinful, un titre certe instrumental, mais beaucoup plus "funky/soul" avec une harpe, des riff de cuivres, un morceau de très bonne facture et très sympathique pas trop éloigné de ce qu'on pouvait faire du coté de Philly à cette époque. Ce disque était semble t il assez apprécié dans la scène northern soul, et il existe une cover par the Fall. Notons que pour ne rien gâcher le disque se trouve sans trop de difficulté et pour pas cher, c'est toujours appréciable.

Is Zack Laurence and Harry Pitch are the same person? I don't know, the first does music for tv shows, movies and children, the second is an harmonica player. Groovin with Mr Bloe was a big hit in 1970 (peak at 2) in England, not bad for an instrumental novelty tune.
The 2 sides are quite good, but I prefer Sinful on the b-side, a nice soul/funk instrumental with harp and horns (wich also appears on a Zack Laurence album). Groovin with Mr Bloe has been played on the northern soul scene, and been covered by the Fall. The good news: it's easy to find and cheap.
